A Visit to the Throne Room
.
Today, the Lord gave me a special throne room experience.
After hardly sleeping for the past couple days, I stayed home from church today b/c I had finally fallen asleep at 4 o'clock this morning. I had no responsibilities in the worship service and the Sr. High boys Small group leader graciously took over my Sr. High girls class for me, so I decided to take Sabbath rest at home.
I slept until 11:00, then sat at the piano to have my own worship service. As I sang & played before the Lord, I imagined myself in the throne room, as is usually my practice. It helps my spirit tune into His. This time was special, and I knew He wanted to speak with me. He gave me a song...a simple song...but a song of worship.
I approached the throne room, and as I entered, I saw the Lord,
seated on His throne. He was surrounded by many angels, all who were ministering to Him, and His glory and radience was like nothing I'd beheld before.
I longed to worship this One who deserved all the glory. His majesty, splendor, purity, & holiness radiated into the depths of my soul; and as I stood before this true Holiness, I was adeptly aware at my unworthiness to be in His presence. As I saw the purity and spotlessness of His garments, I was attuned to the nature of my very own. Then, He, in all His glory, asked me,
"By what means do you stand before me in worship and righteousness today, my child?"
And then I knew...and I answered Him with these words:
I come by the blood
I come by the cross
I come by Your Son, who You gave for us lost
I come by Your love
I come by Your grace
I come by the One who took my place
I want to kneel before Your throne
As You look on me as Your own
And I can't help but fall to my face
Then I'll cry worthy are You, Lord!
Then I'll say holy are You, Lord!
Worthy are You, Lord
Holy are You, Lord!
You gave Your Son to set me free
And I give you all of me completely
As I cry worthy, worthy, worthy are You, Father.
Worthy, worthy, worthy of all praise!
I come by the blood
I come by the cross
I come by Your Son who You gave for us lost
I come by Your love
I come by Your grace
I come by the One who took my place
And I cry worthy worthy worthy.
And I say holy holy holy.
And I give glory glory glory to You, Lord.

Ang, my sister worshiper...I love your song!! The words are simple, yet profound and honest...the tune and the chords are so pretty and would make for a great congregational song I think...I'm thinking plucked guitar, piano and cello maybe? :) When you decide it's ok to share further, I'd love to have it to use in worship at our church!!
Have you been writing a lot? I loved how you pictured the throne room for us...so GOOD! I love to hear of others' writing experiences like this, because it's sometimes so difficult to put into words what happens when the Spirit of the Lord comes upon you and writes a song through you. I'm so glad to read this tonight!!
i liked it too, ang.
your beautiful worship song moved me to tears Ang. wish we could hear the tune that goes with it. praise the Lord for His welcome of us despite our overwhelming insufficiency. holding The Treasure in earthen vessels, overtaken by His grace, what else can we do but cry worthy, as your song proclaims. glory to God.
Elizabeth, I would be honored and humbled for you to use the song if you think it would draw people into the throne room at your church.
I know my rough draft has notational errors on it. Maybe you could look over it for me and plug it into Finale if your church has it and you'd like to use it???
I don't have access to a music software program here.
I also love your idea w/ piano, guitar, and cello. Perhaps a little violin in some parts too?
Just let me know if you want me to; I'll send you a cleaner copy.
It amazes me how the Lord speaks in so many different ways. Music is only one of His outlets, yet it is so powerful, and is the essence this personal creation- how God made me "tick". We serve a creative God, don't we! I love to hear people's expressions of worship as well- in many different ways. I find it difficult at times to post songs I write. Many times they are personal. Many times I do not write out the notation. But there are times I know I am supposed to share. This time was one of them.
Thanks for your encouragement, ladies. I'd like to start writing more congregational worship songs for our church, too, I think.
