Our slavery is self-denial

"Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible." 1 Cor. 9:19

God has spoken to me today. It is so tempting, way too often, to be so selfish. Especially when ministry isn't convenient. This verse puts it in perspective. Our slavery is self-denial. The purpose is high; the goal is clear. To win as many as possible. What's most important in your life?

hey sister,

i am finding/realizing/understanding more and more that the basic essence of my nature is selfishness. i think that this is the essence of sin/our sinful nature. most of the time what is most important in my life is me. i serve God because it is the best thing for *me* to do with *my* life. i try to do the best job i can as a youth pastor so that people will say *i* did a good job or so God will be pleased with *me*. it is a completely twisted mindset. it is because of this mindset, this way of thinking, this way of being, that i need jesus/salvation.

thanks for the good reminder that true love in ministry is a giving away of myself.

love ya.

p.s. post something new.
